Tool: Basics Exponential Decay Table Benzodiazepines tapering schedule

Use this Exponential Decay Table Generator to calculate the number of steps you’l need to successfully taper of your meds, in a hyperbolic decay from 100% to (almost) zero%. Consider following:
Example: for Diazepam,
The Ashton Manual stops at: 0.50 % and for lost of people this may be still way too high.
Support groups suggest : 0.25 % becouse the effect after 0.25 %is very small but the chance of withdrawal due to built-up tolerance and sensitivity is increasing. Often the drug then gives complaints. 0.25 % is based on the experience of users. There are also people who reduce even further. It is therefore not a rule but advice. Ashton already stops at 0.5 %. But in practice it has turned out that this is really too high.
From my own experience i suggest : 0.15 % for a more comfortable taper all the way, keeping in mind that not the taper process itself, but sustainably recovering from benzo’s in the years after the taper is the main goal.
Set the amount of taper 10 ~ 5%: 0.1=10% of last step 0.09=9% 0.08=8% etc.
Set the number of steps you intend to take.
hit Generate, Benzodiazepines tapering schedule and a table is produced, the last steps are the most important
Drug tapering entails gradually reducing medication doses to avoid withdrawal symptoms and safely discontinue drug use. This approach helps the body adjust to lower drug levels, making termination of use more manageable.

How does the tapering calculator help me taper off my benzo's , Z-drugs or SSRI's ?
The tapering calculator uses an exponential decay table to generate a personalized tapering schedule. By entering your starting dose, the tapering percentage per step, and the number of steps, the tool calculates the required dosages from 100% to (almost) 0%. This helps you taper off gradually and safely, with the goal of minimizing withdrawal symptoms. To create your own schedule, you can use the calculator here:
-
Which parameters should I set in the tapering calculator to create a good tapering schedule?
You need to enter three values: your starting dose (in mg or as 100%), the tapering percentage per step (between 5% and 10%), and the number of steps you want to take. The number of days per step is flexible, but the website recommends 10 to 21 days, depending on your stabilization needs.
-
Why are the final steps in the tapering process so important, and what is the recommended stopping dose according to the calculator?
The final steps are the most crucial because the risk of withdrawal symptoms increases as the dose becomes extremely low. The calculator helps you taper down to a very low final dose, for example, 0.15% of the starting dose, which is often found more comfortable than the 0.5% sometimes recommended. More information about the recommended dosage and the importance of a slow taper can be found elswhere on the website.
